North Georgia photography – Tumbling waters fine art print
“Tumbling” was made at the start of spring in 2011. I was spending a few hours climbing and photographing this section of the Alcovy River Falls. This is what I’ve termed the upper-region of the falls. Reaching it requires a climb above the wider but less dramatic lower waterfall. A short walk is required along a canyon/river area which stops at a beautiful stair-step falls.
The stair-step falls can be very treacherous to ascend. Most of the rock formations have a coating of algae that makes it very easy to slide. Even the dry portions are coated with this stuff and, when wet boots touch it, the rocks become instantly slippery.
For this image I placed the tripod on the right bank after climbing the rocky sidewalls of the waterfall. The time of day was later around 6pm. I shot this photography with a Nikon D5000, F10, 200 ISO at 18mm.
