This was one bad idea! So, here’s the story.  I took this trip over to Mt.Arabia, located in Dekalb county Georgia on July 3rd. The first big mistake, trying to squeeze this in during a holiday. Because of all of the family get-togethers, events and other such nonsense I had to navigate this little adventure to smack-dab in the middle of the day.

2:oo p.m. in the middle of the day to be exact. Not only was the lighting God-awful suckage, but I think it was only slightly hotter on the sun. Mt.Arabia, which is more of an extension of Stone Mountain nearby, is one huge chunk of granite. There is a quarry, an old stone office building, and the mount itself.

I first went over to the quarry and took some photographs of it, and the old building. Then some shots of the “Frog pond”, can you believe that? In the middle of this granite, heat nightmare is a small brackish frog pond. And then lastly we dragged ourselves to the mount across the street.

Mt. Arabia is really not much of a mountain, its height is around 1000 feet, but  you can see a good distance around you. Now, by this time the heat was beginning to bake my flesh off, so I didn’t have too much time left looking around at the granite beauty of Mt. Arabia. Its got some attractive rustic features, and I think would be great in the evening, or fall. But for the love of all that is sacred, don’t go in the middle of a July day.
