Photo Expedition – Georgia coastline

Watch my videoblog for the Golden Isles expedition:

A week ago we took our annual trip down to the U.S. Georgia coastline. We stayed in Brunswick, Georgia, which is located between St. Simon Island and Jekyll Island.

This spot always works out great for us, because we can shuttle between the two islands for a pretty cheap price. Which in this day is really important. You can normally stay in Brunswick for a good deal less than a lot of towns, and still have plenty to do.

While we were there we went over to St. Simon to walk along the pier and take a look at the lighthouse. Then back across that huge bridge (I hate heights) to Jekyll Island and its natural dunes.

What really sucked over at St. Simon was the time of day I ended up being there, slap middle of the day. Lighting was crap, so I didnt get anything nice for the lighthouse. There was some neat things to see there, but be ready for lots of traffic.

At Jekyll I took photos of the natural sand dunes, and up at the fish pier. We spent a good bit of time fishing of that pier, but alas didnt catch anything but a crab. Oh, we did see a racoon pilfering the garbage can for some goodies.

Overall, I’d plan for at least three days if  you’re with the fam’. Its a target rich place for photos, so you will need some time.

Liked the Raccoon at the end getting the Chick-Fil-A bag out of the trash can! You know that I am partial to Saint Simons as it is my birthplace. It is busy and crowded but there are some places to get some awesome photos that are off the beaten path….Great work Mark!

Thanks for the comments Bruce! I’ll try to do better in the traffic next time. :-) Feel free to provide some direction on those hidden spots.
