Well, its still flippin’ hot here in North Georgia. I’m waiting out the August heat spending most of my time down in the basement. I did get out a little while and take some photos of a field full of  rolls of hay, and an old building in Athens, Georgia. But, for the most part I’ve been hiding and trying to decide on one of my next photo expeditions that so many of you gave. And there were some very good ones.

I’ve had both location suggestions and conceptual tips. From photographing my office space (thanks boss), to traveling to the bottom of Tallulah Gorge. Ways to better see the photo, to heading up to wine country in the North Georgia mountains. They have all be great, and I really want to thank each of  you.

This weeks photos:

So, after all the wondering, and wanderings I’ve decided that one my next photography expeditions will be Sweetwater Creek State Park, located just west of Atlanta. I need to give credit to Carl Olson, a great photographer also located in North Georgia (Twitter Carl @atomicworks.)

I won’t go into detail on the location that Carl suggested in the post, but briefly its a state park west of Atlanta that has both a falls and abandoned mill. The mill looks pretty dramatic, covered with kudzu and made up of old towering brick walls. It should be a great expedition. Carl mentioned a bunch of other interesting spots that I plan to check out as well.

I want to give credit to everyone who submitted ideas, either online or offline. Thank you Craig Ferguson (Twitter @cfimages), Brandon M Worf (Twitter @FactorOne), Colleen Swanger (Twitter @cswanger), Phil Scopp, Carlson Seawell, Bruce Rhodes, Josh and of course my dear wife.

I will also be using some of everyone’s other great ideas over the course of  several months. At least as soon as the temperature outside comes down enough to not melt my brain.

And while I’ve got you here, another project…

I’ve worked on some personal photojournalism (bottom gallery) projects off-and-on, and  I would like to add a little “meat” to this project. I think something like this has so much more impact when there are personal stories added as a backdrop to what your seeing. Most of this project includes photos of urban and rural decay, with a focus on foreclosure and crumbling neighborhoods.

Please contact me, I need your story on how economic conditions have affected you. I will not be using anyone by name or location. These stories, combined with my photography, will be part of an upcoming blogcast. I’d love to have you participate.
