New prints for sale in my landscape gallery.
As promised, I’ve finished processing my work from Freeman’s Mill in Gwinnett County Georgia. Its located along the Alcovy river in the northern section of the county.
Freeman’s Mill, also known as Swann’s was built a few years after the War Between the States. It operated as a grist mill, and was I believe that last to close down in the county. Its also got another hidden gem – a magnificent series of falls that are located behind the park. I’ve taken several photos of that spot in past – and plan to do another feature on them soon.
These images were made on a rainy cool morning in late August. A slow mist falling down around me as I setup my tripod for the first round of exposures. The initial spot was above the eastern wall leading down into the retention pool below. I worked with a combination of short and long lenses combined with a neutral density and polarizing filter.
The biggest challenge was keeping the equipment dry and climbing up and down the rock wall leading down to the pool. Something I needed to also be aware of was the amount of sand that was piled up along the rocks, making sure that none got in my pack.
These very atmospheric and lush images were a real thrill to produce, and I think will be a great addition to your gallery. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did in the creative process of capturing the beauty of this location.
